McLane Creek Letterboxes
McLane Creek Nature Trail
Capital Forest Region
Delphi Rd (6 miles SW of Olympia)
Olympia
Thurston County
Washington

Level of difficulty: Mostly level, dirt, gravel or boardwalk trail
(sections are mucky in rainy season). Clues easy to moderate.
Setting: McLane Creek Nature Trail is a gorgeous riparian setting
with ponds, reeds, beaver mounds, old growth trees and wildlife of
all types. Look for beavers, ducks, newts, bull frogs, birdsred
wing blackbirds, cedar waxwings, etc.

Highlights: Look for the beavers and signs of all of their
activities.

Facilities: Primitive restroom located near the parking lot. Bring a
picnic lunch.

Restrictions: Leash and scoop laws in effect for pets. No bicycles.
Length of trek: 1.1 mile loop for both boxes

Directions: Take I-5 to Exit #104 Hwy 101, head West. Take the 2nd
Mud Bay Rd exit, turn right on Mud Bay Rd and then head South (Left)
on Delphi Road. Travel about 4 miles. Look for the sign for McLane
Creek Nature Trail and Centennial Forest on the right. Park in the
lower parking lot near the info kiosk. This is the starting point
for your trek.
